Today was a repeat of the 20th as we began shooting the final parts of our film. I learnt my oil rig light s are still useful and had been used for this scene as well. I was meant to help with production design by making the custard that had been used to be poured on the actor but our AD took care of that for me whilst I focused on holding up black material for the transition from void to cinema.
We had this idea to film in an all black void where our lead would fall on to a green chair that would be keyed out in post. with everything else done we filmed in the a meeting room at the Napier library. It was the only option available without the use of a studio. We couldn't get the room dark enough and we did not have enough material to completely black out the room. As the director and cinematographer struggled to find a solution and with our actor running out of time before he had to go I cried up and said we did not need the scene. We should stick with the footage we got and get the close ups of the director as the dance instructor but we did not need the black void as much of what we filmed will already cover for it. I also said that the scene might just make things to confusing as to what is happening. Everyone reluctantly agreed and we carried on the shoot. I watched equipment then left as soon as we were done. we took back the equipment we could and now the editor and sound mixer are the ones who have the material to put together a great film.
